Vampire Researchers Make Blood From Human Skin

November 23, 2010 By Seth 16 Comments

Big vampire news this month. After nearly a decade of research the vamps have discovered how to transform human skin into blood, giving hope and smoothies to tortured vampires everywhere. No more snacking on squirrels and purse puppies! There’s an ethical solution in sight.

A team of vampire scientists led by Mick Bhatia at McMaster University, succeeded in converting skin cells directly into human blood cells last week.

The scientists used a trial-and-error approach to discover which genes could be activated to cause the cells to reprogram into blood cells. Then they looked for the right combination of growth factors (or blood proteins that promote development of the new cells) that were needed to move the process along.

They found that they needed to turn on a single gene called OCT4 in the skin cells and that the cells needed to bathe in precisely calibrated combinations of four to six growth factors to make a variety of blood cell types.

The process is easy enough to produce usable amounts of blood for vampire consumption or even transfusion, Bhatia explains. A patch of skin as small as 12 square centimeters would generate sufficient blood for multiple transfusions. Is he talking about a cure for vampirism?

“Even if we could agree that vampires need curing, it’s too early to say at this stage what the effect of repeated transfusions would be. Let’s just say this process can keep the average vampire in delicious smoothies for a very long time.”

Clinical trials with real vampires could begin as early as this year. Any vampires wishing to volunteer for these experiments are encouraged to apply well in advance as demand is expected to be high.

      Hail HR,

Thanks for checking in with your supernatural situation. This certainly sounds very vampy but just to clarify, can you please answer the following questions:

      1. Where did you bite your sister ie: what body part? (Not what room of the house!)

      2. What colors do you eyes change and when?

      3. Does sunlight hurt your eyes?

For a more conclusive result, you can download the Monstrometer or have somebody else scan you with their Monstrometer. Monstrometer results are 99.9% accurate 99.9 percent of the time.

      Seth

PS – I just saw your comment about liking the mist (below). This is a tricky one because while many creatures like the mist, from mermonsters to vampires and even some werewolves, there is one supernatural being that loves the mist more than all others and it’s not who most people think…

Sounds like the early stages of vamprism I noticied a slight change of colour in my eyes about a day after being bitten and the sun did give me a piercing headache in the first week of contracting it.have you considered a cure like slaying the vamp that gave you the desise or slaying the head vamp of that coven?

Wow this would really help vampires that crave blood and not just need blood. My friend craves blood alot. She’s already a vampire-hybred and feeds regularly. My partner and I are concerned, she gets these thirsty moods that overtakes her. Hopefully this will help control her cravings.

It’s certainly a hope that this helps vampires everywhere, I might do a little research in substitutes food/drink items myself. I helped in the creation of a brain food substitute for zombies (Zombie Berries), it’s best to make items that helps creatures that don’t want to harm anyone.

the easier way to produce blood would be to create bone marrow cultures, since bone marrow makes blood.

Zombie Outbreak in Texas!!!

Hail Survivors!

I recently received a very grave -no pun intended- warning from Survivor Miles who I believe may be located in or near Texas. Survivor Miles recently survived a vicious zombie attack, armed with only his wits and hedge clippers. His parents unfortunately were not so lucky.
