This just in. Convincing evidence the robot fish have evolved!
Once the size of a tiny minnow, a robot fish caught this week appears to be leading an entire school. There’s no telling how big this could get:
Like most great creature stories this one starts with a scientist or ten, in this case we’re talking about mechanical engineers. They started by introducing a robotic minnow to real fish in the wild back in 2008.
This robotic minnow was a perfect imitation of the real thing except one detail – it could move its tail at different speeds and frequencies. Turns out real fish are a bit lazy, just like humans, cause they like to follow in the wake of a faster fish. It wasn’t long before the real fish accepted the robot fish as their leader.
Now just a few years later, the robot fish have evolved and multiplied. Scientists have spotted robot fish of many species: robot carp, robot knife fish even a single robot shark. At this rate there will be more robot fish than real ones.
The robo-carp above was revealed this week by Italian scientists Stefano Marras and Maurizio Profiri who hope to use the robotic fish for good.
“We may be able to influence collective animal behavior to aid environmental conservation and disaster recovery efforts.”
But can the robo-fish be trusted to lead schools of real fish to safety? Or is fishing about to become a whole lot weirder?

ARC is sending this article to Zyboragon, he will enjoy this.
Robot fish are nothing compared to cyborg fish (2013).
Great advancements will be made!
Hail Arc,
Thanks for sending it on to Z. He could use a little robot fishing holiday.
Think he can eat the robot fish?
Seth
😆 I love fish but robot fish thats terrible 😈
Yes I could, regular fish taste better though.
If you had one would you rather build a tank to watch the robotic fish or would you eat it? I think studying something like that is far more reasonable than eating it.
The real problem is not the fish but the people who use them. They can use the robots to lead the real fish and do whatever they wanted with them. They could cripple coastal economies by driving fish away. If they drive fish away they can hold the fish hostage and people effected by that would have to do whatever they wanted. Such a person that could hold fish hostage could also use them to patrol the ocean like satellites but in the water. Any shipping and trade movements could be tracked easily. The fish can also be used to launch a coordinated ambush where they attack trade and fishing vessels. However the worst of all is if they use this all together. They can hold fish hostage devastating local economies as well as patrolling the ocean for boats to launch coordinated ambushes on hijacking valuable resources like oil and metals and halting international traced via water. The captured resources could be sold back for a higher price or kept for use by whoever controlled the fish. With all of the resources that can be taken from all of the shipping vessels they could take, they could do whatever they wanted to do. Most shipping is done by boat because it is cheaper and faster than other means. Overall this could be a mega disaster if the wrong people got ahold of this technology. Plus the fish could be used to find underwater oil reserves and possibly Atlantis, as well as investigate the Bermuda triangle. This technology does not seem dangerous and so would not be that heavily regulated by the government allowing anyone to get ahold of this technology. Cyborg fish would be worse because they could “assimilate” normal fish, breed faster and heal quicker. This could end op being a major world problem! Just speculating here though, but I do think that these are good points. It feels really good to be back on the site and writing another article of this length about a news article that could be way worse than it ever would seem at first glance. Oh the joy of writing paragraphs opon paragraphs to make sure that people understand the point that I am trying to make.

Yes that’s what I ment.
