Did Angel Aliens Save Russia From Meteor?

An important debate taking place in Russia today, did a species of angel aliens save Russia from a deadly meteor last week?  Or is this the cover story of some pirate aliens who attacked the da14 bus?

Survivors here at SOS will recall the post-Valentine’s day events, when a giant meteor exploded over Chelyabinsk, on the very same day that meteor-ship da14 was scheduled to fly by Earth with passengers and cargo.

You may also recall on that same day how a busload of awkward alien tourists arrived on that ship with tour guide Tikiria Ishiu and stopped by SOS. If you don’t, please read about them here… or here’s another one of them named Eridan Empora…

Now the question I pose is this. Do any of these aliens seem like angels to you?

Dancing Gorilla Disease Defies Diagnosis: Are You Infected?

Move over lycanthropy, England has discovered a disturbing new disease that defies diagnosis – dancing gorilla disease. That’s right transformative troglodytic discophilia. Translation: there’s a tiny troglodyte doing the tango inside your chest, just waiting to bust out on the next full moon. Could you be infected?

Here’s the history. A group of the best radiologists at a hospital in England were shocked to discover diminutive dancing gorillas in 1 out of 5 CT scans they examined. Scans like the one below revealed a hominid hustling to take over its human host – dancing gorilla disease.

Early detection is key so how can you tell if you are infected?

Well first the bad news. The bad news is this: 83% of trained radiologists at the same hospital were unable to diagnose dancing gorilla disease. That’s right. 83% of radiologists were completely unable to see the dancing gorilla in CT scans like the one below.

To be fair to these reject radiologists, who really expects to find a dancing gorilla inside a patient’s chest? That’s the problem with dancing gorilla disease and why it goes undetected by even the most highly trained medical professionals.

So until we can add this to The Monstrometer, you must learn to defend yourself against dancing gorilla disease. Can you spot the hustling hominidae hiding in your own lungs long before your knuckles start to drag? Try examining the CT scan below. Can you find the dancing gorilla? If so, congratulations! You could be one of the best radiologists in England!

Meet Devorah SOTM for the Storm Moon

Divining Devorah’s Destiny

Well if you, like the Ouroborous Eternal, guessed Devorah for SOTM this month? You were right! Over the past several months this werewolf has proven herself to be a careful and considerate member of the SOS community. You can always count on Devorah to ask a good question or express her concern for a fellow survivor. Need somebody to join your rescue mission? Devorah will be there. Providing she doesn’t have a hockey game.

(Unless it’s a full moon. She doesn’t play hockey on the full moon because what if her silver orthodontics fail to prevent her transformation – right in front of everyone? Not to mention, can werewolves even skate? Probably best not to find out the hard way during a game.)

The good thing about Devorah coming to rescue you is this – she will not forget you. Sometimes on SOS a rescue group gets started and then well, other stuff happens. It’s nobody’s fault really, we all have to survive out there and survival can get pretty complicated. So on many full moons the rescue-ee ends up saving themselves, usually with a little luck and a foggy memory of the events that almost killed them.

But if you see an SOS group coming to save you that includes Devorah, you’re in luck. Because she will fight to remember the mission and keep the party together. We don’t know if this power comes from her human side or her werewolf side, but whatever the case, many survivors on the site including Luna appreciate it.

Of course, Devorah has other powers too – after all, she is a werewolf. Specifically, an Oak werewolf, although she hasn’t experienced her first transformation yet and she hasn’t been to the faerie tree to meet her clan or begin training. (Which explains her default avatar.) Will she meet her faerie guide and make the journey? Or will her silver anti-lycan orthodontics keep her safe and human at home?

Until then Devorah relies on spells given to her by other survivors on the site, like Moon Song and Midnight Wrath. And of course LycantheProtector’s lycanthroporous flowers – one petal eaten at midnight on a full moon will enable you to transform for 24 hours.

Devorah also has a mysterious undeveloped skill(s)  that Area-51 has been tracking. Will Firefang join forces with her in figuring it out? Or will the mysterious assasin “Chad” succeed in stealing this power before we even know what it is?

So what is Devorah’s Destiny? We’ll just have to keep on keeping on to find out. Any destiny worth having takes time to develop and includes others, so I’m willing to wait and see.

Storm Moon Survivor of the Month

Who will it be?

Who would believe that SOS could survive another month? Let alone this particular month, with its werewolves who hang out with zombies, busload of ill-mannered aliens and haunted mirrors, to name just a few of the beings who are being around here.

But here we are, another full moon is rising to its height tonight and soon we will have another Survivor of the Month.  Graham and I have counted up all helpful, fun, curious or informative entries & comments now and spun the wheel. The clues are appearing below.

More importantly, thanks to every being who contributed to Survival this month. You keep me keeping on. And even if you don’t receive a small iTunes thank you in your email this month, there’s still lots of ways to contribute. Not the least of which is the SOS Video Challenge.  You make a short video with some reliable survival tips or tricks for your werewolf, zombie or alien friends and we all win. You get an iTunes thank you card in your email and lives will be saved, I guarantee it 99.99%. Just make sure you disguise your real appearance in some way.

Guess The Survivor of the Month: 

1. This Survivor is very protective of other Survivors on the site and will GROWL menacingly at any hint of cruelty or bullying.

2. Which is to say, this Survivor (correction here!) is a suspected werewolf – genetic or bitten we are still unsure. Personally, I have begun to suspect her mothers’ side of the family. Although her mom denies it, she has a thing for the full moon.

3. We do know this much – she is probably an Oak werewolf.

4. But unfortunately due to her anti-lycanthropic orthodontics i.e. braces made of real silver alloy, they have do not transform like a genetic WW yet and must rely on spells and lycanthroporous flowers provided by LycantheProtector.

5. This werewolf doesn’t always say much, but is always quick with a good question or a friendly hello.

6. This WW has the record for the shortest SOS message on the site. (Note: this message was discarded for the draw!)

6. This WW has a friend who is a shapeshifter.

7. This survivor founded a pack called the Silvermoon pack, and then very generously dedicated it to the honor of a legendary WW on the site named Silvermoon.

8. Most importantly, this WW is always on the lookout for others to help. Case in point – she is still on the lookout for Luna and recruiting others on the site to figure out what happened. What did happen to Luna anyway? With the help of this survivor we may yet figure it out.

I’m thinking that’s enough clues for everyone to know the answer. But stop by tomorrow for the final write up! This Week In Survival February 22, 2013

Thanks to everyone who contributed to Survival this week!  It was a bad week to buy a mirror, that much is clear after a haunted mirror was sold for revenge on eBay. However it was a good week to reflect on BlueDragonSpring’s question: aren’t all mirrors haunted? Got a haunted mirror or an opinion about mirrors in general? Why not weigh in?

On the bright side, thanks to the survivors here on the site, the mystery of the faery fire has been solved….Or has it? What do you think? 

In other news, no video entries for the Black Magic SOS video challenge prize yet.

Another Supernatural Week of Survival!

(To review, the challenge goes like this – you email a link to your helpy supernatural survival video that we can feature on the site and you get an iTunes prize! Easy peasy mac and cheesy. Any time, no deadline, every video featured gets a prize and the credit goes to you of course. For your survival, the only rule is this – you must disguise your real appearance in some way – sunglasses, a hat, whatever something. And of course no real names, ages or locations.)

*March Madness begins early! A Rainbow Glider pops by this week – new leprechaun. Luckily he doesn’t appear to be here to torture me. Yet. Does anyone know the truth behind leprechaunic powers of rainbow teleportation? Is it really a matter of special shoes and a watch? Or gloves…?  Does this explain the Faery Fire?  What I wouldn’t give to find the end of just ONE rainbow this year!

*As suspected the da14 asteroid bus brought aliens. An entire busload of socially awkward aliens. Has Tikiria Ishiu gone from running a dreamcation travel service to running a charm school for aliens???? If so, will their assignments and tests include beings from SOS?

*LycanFang hit with a silver arrow while hunting. Will the Survivors advice save them? Will Gabriella’s WW rescue team arrive in time?

*A POE OUTBREAK? Sounds like something a Bone Wolf would do but it’s actually LycantheProtector…. What does it mean? 

*Katie is back with a full moon fever! She tried some silver gear and well, let’s just say now she is not just transforming, she is itchy! Could it get any worse? Oh yes, apparently it could…

*Dragon diplomacy! Will Mr. Jaffa succeed in convincing BlueDragon, the new dragon on the site to give him a talon for a dragon transformation spell? How long will it let him be a dragon for? Why does he want it anyway?  With Jaffa you can never be too careful….

*Werewolf Time! By the power of 3, will Devorah’s wish be? If it works, it’s pretty awesome! Or terrifying. Or both. Check it out here….

*Any advice for Kisa Akari on dealing with solar dragons…? Is just give up REALLY the best we can do?

*Werewolf13 phasing the night before the full moon. Any theories why? It could be too late but I’m looking into it now.

*LycanFang hit with a silver arrow when hunting two days ago hasn’t been heard from since. Did the Gabriella’s WW rescue team come get him?

*Posibilities set to try Devorah’s WW spell on the 25th. Those spells are pretty hit and miss. Will it work? Or work part way? Or work too well?

*RUSTPELT stopped by only to disappear too. Could he be a victim of the faerie fire too? Or just wolfing out with Devorah’s help? 

 

Angry Ex-Boyfriend Buys Haunted Mirror

A jilted ex-boyfriend has offered to buy a haunted mirror on eBay after it caused its owners a run of bad luck, missing objects and stabbing pains in the middle of the night.

But can you really buy a haunted mirror for revenge on an ex? Should you? Or will it backfire?

Students Joseph Birch and Sotiris Charalambous did not realize the antique mirror was haunted when they first brought it into their home. Not even when their landlord was trying to dispose of the mirror after using silver paint in a desperate attempt to rehabilitate it.

(These  facts would have been a dead giveaway to SOS readers who are aware of the supernatural utility of silver and could have warned Joseph that a suspicious old mirror with a silver border is not exactly a good find. Clearly the landlord was trying to coax the ghost out of his antique mirror but failed and gave it away instead.)

Shortly after Joseph and Sotiris brought the mirror into their home, weird shadows began appearing, things started to go missing, and they both began to wake up screaming in the middle of the night with stabbing and burning pains in certain unmentioned parts of their bodies.

After enduring this ghastly situation for several months, the renters gave up dealing with their mirror ghost – or ghosts  – and began to advertise it for sale on Ebay instead. The haunted mirror has received several offers, including one from an angry ex-boyfriend who says he will pay £100 and give it as a gift to his ex-gf.

But will the angry ex-boyfriend have his revenge? Or will the joke be on him?

As SOS readers know, old mirrors become haunted for two very good reasons. First, old mirrors are made with a real silver backing. Ghosts love silver. The molecular structure of true silver is highly conductive and responds easily to their energy.

Second, old mirrors see and reflect a lot of events – not all of them good. When a tragic event takes place in front of a mirror, as they often do, the mirror can trap the energy of that event for all time. If that event resulted in the death of somebody, the mirror may also trap their ghost.

But sometimes a ghost will actually choose to stay with the mirror and the energy of the terrible events that killed him because he thinks it will help him communicate his situation to the living. Clearly this is the situation with Joseph’s mirror. The landlord tried and failed to draw the ghost(s) out of the glass by providing a silver conduit. Did he also try to establish communication with the ghost by placing a cherry pie and a candle in front of it before midnight? We don’t know.

We do know that whatever communication attempts have taken place, they have not been successful. Until we know for sure what events this mirror witnessed, we will never know what the ghost wants.

Which brings us back to the angry ex-boyfriend who thinks this mirror will be the perfect revenge on his old GF. Will it work?

Ghosts are not like angry attack dogs. You can’t just sic them on anyone you want! He doesn’t even know the ghost(s) in question. Is it a guy or a girl. How did they die? What do they want you to do?  All we know for sure so far about this mirror ghost, is that it seems to like haunting a couple of guys…
